It couldn’t be a more proper time to freshen up on your kids’ manners.

Children's etiquette

Just in time for the spring holidays, The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park has added a new program to its array of kid-friendly amenities: etiquette classes for children. The luxury downtown property is offering young guests a chance to learn the rules of conduct in a fun and engaging environment, with workshops hosted by etiquette expert and author of The Extraordinarily Ordinary Life of Prince – Which Fork’s First?, Prince Sanders.

Open to children ages 5 to 11, the fun two-hour class will take place on a monthly basis at 2West Restaurant and will include a short and entertaining etiquette lesson, a three-course interactive meal to teach table manners, and a hands-on cupcake decorating activity. Upon completion of the workshop, children will not only return home with improved manners, but also with signature souvenirs, including the etiquette book, a Ritz-Carlton stuffed lion, and a linen napkin with their initials embroidered (to practice folding and placement at home).

With the recent launch of the global Ritz Kids program, the downtown luxury hotel is introducing programs designed to tap into the innate curiosity of children and teach them about New York City and the world around them in a fun yet engaging way.

In addition to the new etiquette classes, families can enjoy the Indoor Campout setup, an authentic indoor camping experience that provides children with an evening of adventure, sleeping in a tent for two equipped with all the essentials.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park also offers an array of kid-friendly amenities to ensure young visitors have an unforgettable stay. Families can take advantage of the complimentary Teddy Bear Turndown service, which includes a plush Ritz-Carlton Teddy Bear, a Good Night New York City book, chocolate, and a coloring book, as well as POLO (“Protect Our Little Ones”) kits for toddlers and babies, which include electric plug covers, kiddie band aids, a bath tub spout cover, a rubber ducky, children’s shampoo and children’s lotion. Young guests can also enjoy a Rub-A-Dub-Dub Bath, a soothing and relaxing bubble bath drawn by the hotel’s bath butler, and filled with rubber duckies, followed by chocolate milk to enjoy before bedtime. For active young guests, the luxury hotel offers a small gift for any child who is successful in tracking down Battery Park’s famous resident turkey, Zelda, by presenting a photo of Zelda to the front desk. Zelda roams the lovely grounds of Battery Park and Riverside Park and can sometimes be spotted posing for photos.

The classes cost $60 per person, and are open to the public. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. For additional information or to book, please visit the hotel’s website: Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park.
