Festival Del Sole Opens
at Castello di Amorosa
with Joshua Bell
Napa Valley’s premier summer event Festival del Sole has opened its much anticipated series of concerts with The First Night performance that took place at Castello di Amorosa, Friday, July 11th. The evening filled with enchantment unique to this prominent wine region featured the talented Joshua Bell performing on his Stradivarius violin from 1713, accompanied by the Sphinx Virtuosi. They performed Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in the Castello’s 13th-century styled courtyard.
After the performance, VIP guests were led into the castle’s Grand Barrel Room for an intimate three-course meal provided by Oak Avenue Catering, featuring several of Castello di Amorosa’s cellar selection wines, including 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Double Gold Medal – 2013 American Fine Wine Competition) and their 2007 La Castellana Super Tuscan blend (92 pts, Robert Parker; 93 pts, International Wine Review) paired with the Muscovy duck main entrée. Castello di Amorosa’s 2013 Gioia rose of Sangiovese was featured with the first course Caprese salad, and finally their 2013 Il Raggio del Sole Moscato served with a peach tart dessert.

Founded in 2006 by Richard Walker and Barrett Wissman, Napa Valley Festival del Sole has been embraced with tremendous success by the community that gives its support; the vintners, resorts, partners, patrons, staff, volunteers, and the public that enjoys these evenings of enchantment. Besides the love it receives from the people around them, staying true to their original vision ever since, ie, of providing a festival that would define Napa Valley as a cultural destination, has been key to the festival’s success.
Festival del Sole operates in partnership between IMG Artists and Napa Valley Festival Association, a nonprofit public benefit corporation.
